Insurance Information
At MuCars, we prioritize the safety and security of our customers and vehicles. To give you peace of mind during your rental, we offer a variety of insurance options. Below, you will find important details about the insurance coverage included with your rental, optional insurance upgrades, and a table outlining the charges for damage in the event you do not purchase additional coverage.
Included Basic Insurance
All vehicles rented through MuCars come with Basic Insurance, which includes third-party liability coverage as required by Spanish law. This covers any damage or injury caused to third parties. However, this basic insurance does not cover damages to the rental vehicle or theft.
Basic Insurance Coverage Includes:
Third-Party Liability: Covers damages or injuries caused to third parties (other vehicles, property, or individuals).
Legal Assistance: Basic legal coverage if a legal issue arises during the rental.
What’s Not Covered:
Damage to the rental vehicle (collision, scratches, dents, etc.).
Theft of the vehicle.
Damage to personal belongings.
Damage due to negligence or traffic violations.
For more protection, consider upgrading your insurance options.
Optional Insurance Upgrades
To protect yourself from unexpected costs, we offer optional insurance upgrades that reduce or eliminate your liability for damages, theft, or accidents. These can be added when booking or during vehicle pick-up.
1. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW):
The Collision Damage Waiver reduces your financial responsibility for damage to the rental vehicle. With CDW, your liability is limited to a set excess amount.
Without CDW: You are responsible for all repair costs.
With CDW: Your liability is capped at an excess amount (e.g., €500).
CDW does not cover damages due to negligence or violations of the rental agreement.
2. Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW):
The Super Collision Damage Waiver eliminates your excess entirely, meaning you will not have to pay for any damages in covered incidents.
SCDW includes zero excess for accidental damage.
3. Theft Protection (TP):
The Theft Protection option limits your liability if the vehicle is stolen, capping your responsibility to a lower excess amount.
Without TP: You are liable for the full value of the vehicle.
With TP: Liability is capped at a set excess amount (e.g., €500).
4. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI):
This covers medical expenses for the driver and passengers in case of an accident, including hospitalization and compensation for injuries, death, or permanent disability.
5. Glass and Tyre Protection:
This option covers damages to the vehicle’s glass (windows and mirrors) and tyres, which are not usually covered by basic insurance or CDW.
Table of Charges for Damage (Without Insurance Upgrades)
If you choose not to purchase additional insurance coverage, you will be liable for the following charges in the event of damage:
Type of Damage | Charge (€) |
---|---|
Minor scratches/dents | €100 – €300 |
Major scratches/dents | €300 – €600 |
Windshield/glass damage | €200 – €500 |
Tyre replacement (per tyre) | €150 |
Replacement of wing mirrors | €150 |
Replacement of headlights | €200 |
Interior damage (e.g., seats) | €100 – €500 |
Bumper damage | €400 – €800 |
Full repaint (severe damage) | €1,000 – €2,000 |
Theft of the vehicle (full value) | Market value of vehicle |
Note: These charges apply only if you have not opted for additional insurance coverage (CDW, SCDW, or TP). If you purchase insurance upgrades, your liability will be limited to the excess (or eliminated, in the case of SCDW).
Important Notes:
Insurance is void if the driver is found to be in violation of traffic laws or acting negligently (e.g., driving under the influence, reckless driving).
Insurance does not cover interior damage, damage from misfuelling, or towing charges.
We recommend reviewing these options carefully to select the coverage that best fits your needs, ensuring a worry-free experience during your rental.
